WELCOME to the Website of The Center for Good Governance

The mission of The Center for Good Governance (CGG) is to build capacities for effective governance through technical assistance, training and applied research. Our services and activities are intended to help countries achieve economic and social development and to support their transitions to democracy.

The origins of CGG are in the consulting practice of the Institute of Public Administration (IPA), established in 1906 to promote good government at local and national levels in the U.S. and throughout the world. When the IPA Board of Trustees decided to refocus that organization's activity to provide fellowships to graduate students and the organization ceased technical assistance work, The Center for Good Governance was established in order to continue the legacy of IPA’s consulting work.

The Center fosters a comparative and interdisciplinary approach that combines scholarship with practical knowledge and experience. The services of the Center are provided by our own Staff and by Associates who are experts and practitioners recruited from governments, private firms, non-governmental organizations and universities to serve on project teams. The Center works hand in hand with clients, local experts and officials who are the actual implementers of change, encouraging them to exercise leadership and to undertake the risks of innovation.

The Center is a nonprofit, 501 (c) (3), organization, and contributions to it are exempt from United States federal income tax.

We invite your participation in the activities of The Center for Good Governance.

Sincerely,

Dave Mammen and Ernie Leonardo
